Go peacefully amid the noise and haste. Remember what solace may be had in silence, for that is where God is known. As far as possible, serve all others. Speak the Lord’s truth quietly and clearly. Listen to others with your heart, most especially the poor and broken; they too are the children of God, deserving of your love and acceptance. Avoid loudness and aggression, for it will vex your spirit. Should you compare yourself with others, you will risk becoming vain and bitter, for always in your ken there will be persons of greater and lesser achievement. Before the Lord, enjoy your accomplishments as well as your dreams. Zealously maintain your own walk with Jesus Christ, for it will remain a blessing throughout your life. Exercise wisdom in your affairs, for the world is full of deception, but let this not blind you to such virtues as ascribed by God, for many of his beloved strive for high ideals; everywhere, life is full with salt and light, for the Spirit of the Holy One pervades the Earth. Have courage to be yourself, as a beloved creation of Jesus and living witness to His transforming work, and to the Kingdom of God. Most especially, do not feign love, compassion, justice or mercy. Neither be cynical about the truth of God, for in the face of all aridity and disenchantment, it is perennial as the grass. Take seriously the counsel of the Scriptures, gracefully surrendering the things of youth, of falsity, and of the world. Nurture the Spirit’s strength to shield you from the onslaught of the enemy. Do not needlessly distress yourself with unfounded imaginings. Many fears are born of fatigue and loneliness. Beyond a wholesome discipline as established in Holy Scripture, be gentle and kind with others. You are a child of the Lord your God, no less and no more than others. You are here at God’s pleasure, for His purposes and blessings. Whether clear to you, God does remain in control; therefore be at peace with God. Whatever your labors and aspirations, in the noisy confusion of life, render this same peace unto your soul. With all its sham, drudgery, and broken dreams, this is yet a beautiful world. Be of enduring faith.
Seek guidance, daily, from the Lord.
