I am hard pressed on every side, but not crushed; perplexed, but not in despair; persecuted, but not abandoned; struck down, but not destroyed.  Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ,the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort, who comforts me in all my troubles, so that I can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort I myself have received from God. For just as the sufferings of Christ flow over into my life,so also through Christ my comfort overflows. Jesus has encouraged me, saying “If you hold to my teaching, you are really my disciple. Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.”

I feel completely alone and without resource.                 

 Neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate me from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus, your Lord. Romans 8:36-39. 

 God said to me, “Never will I leave you; never will I forsake you.”

Hebrews 13:5b.

 By keeping His commandments, I abide in God and He abides in me.

1 John 3:24a.

 My hope does not put me to shame because God’s love has been poured into my heart through the Holy Spirit, who has been given to me. Romans 5:5.

 I know that I am God’s temple and that His Spirit dwells in me.

1 Corinthians 3:16.

Because I am in Christ, I am never alone.

 

I feel like I have no value, no worth.             

 For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that because I believe in Him I shall not perish but have eternal life.  For God did not send His Son into the worldto condemn the world, but to save the world through Him.

Because I believe in God’s one and only Son, I am not condemned. This is the verdict: Light has come into the world. By living by the truth, I come into the light, so that it may be seen plainly that what I do has truly been done through God. John 3:16-21. 

 This is evidence that God’s judgment is right; as a result I will be counted worthy of the kingdom of God, for which I am suffering. 2 Thessalonians 1:5. 

 I will walk in a manner worthy of the calling to which I have been called, with all humility and gentleness, with patience, bearing with all others in love, eager

 I look at the birds of the air and know they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns, and yet my Heavenly Father feeds them. And I know I am of more value to Him than the birds!  Matthew 6:26.

In Christ, I am of great value.

 

I feel like I am unacceptable to others and to God.          

 O Lord, you have searched meand you know me. You know when I sit and when I rise; you perceive my thoughts from afar. You discern my going out

and my lying down; you are familiar with all my ways.  Before a word is on my

tongue you know it completely, O Lord, you hem me in  — behind and before;

you have laid your hand upon me. Such knowledge is too wonderful for me, too

lofty for me to attain.  Where can I go from your Spirit? Where can I flee from

your presence? If I go up to the heavens, you are there; if I make my bed in the

depths, you are there. If I rise on the wings of the dawn, if I settle on the far side of the sea, even there your hand will guide me, your right hand will hold me fast.

If I say, “Surely the darkness will hide me and the light become night around

me,” even the darkness will not be dark to you; the night will shine like the day,

for darkness is as light to you.  For you created my inmost being; you knit me

together in my mother’s womb.  I praise you because I am fearfully and

wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well. My frame

was not hidden from you when I was made in the secret place. When I was woven together in the depths of the earth, your eyes saw my unformed body. All the days ordained for me were written in your book before one of them came to be. How precious to me are your thoughts, O God!  How vast is the sum of them!

Were I to count them, they would outnumber the grains of sand. When I awake, I

am still with you. Search me, O God, and know my heart; test me and know my

anxious thoughts. See if there is any offensive way in me, and lead me in the

way everlasting.  Psalm 139:1-18, 23-24.

 When I accept others in the same way as Christ accepted me, I bring praise to God. Romans 15:7.

 It is because of Him that I am in Christ Jesus, who has become for me, wisdom from God—that is, my righteousness, holiness and redemption. 1 Corinthians 1:30.                                   

Because of Christ’s work of the Cross, he has made me made completely acceptable.

 

 

 

I feel like a failure.

 Not that I am competent in myself to claim anything for myself, but my competence comes from God.  He has made me competent as a minister of a new covenant —not of the letter of the covenant but of the Spirit, for the letter kills and the Spirit gives life.  2 Corinthians 3:5, 6.

 I can do everything through Christ who gives me strength. Philippians 4:13.    

In Christ, I can succeed in whatever I choose to do.

 

I feel like I’ll never have confidence in myself.

 The Lord will be my confidence and will keep my foot from being snared.  Proverbs 3:26.

 Through faith in Him, I may approach God with freedom and confidence. Ephesians 3:12. 

 If I ask of God, He will give to me; if I seek God, I will find Him; if I knock on the door of His Kingdom, the door will be opened to me. Matthew 7:7.

I am confident of who I am in Christ.

 

I feel responsible for correcting everything that is wrong in my life, but inadequate to do it.

 The Lord will fulfill his purpose for me; your love, O Lord, endures forever. I pray, do not abandon the works of your hands.  Psalm 138:8.

 Because of my partnership in the gospel from the first day until now, being confident of this, He who began a good work in me will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus. Philippians 1:4-7.

 I will continue to work out my salvation with fear and trembling, for it is God who works in me to will and to act according to His good purpose. I will do all things without complaining or arguing, so that I may become a blameless and pure child of God without fault. In a crooked and depraved generation, I will shine like a star in the universe as I hold out the Word of Life. 

Philippians 2:12b-16a.

 The Lord is faithful, and He will strengthen and protect me from the evil one. 2 Thessalonians 3:3

 Christ suffered once for my sins, the righteous for the unrighteous, that He might bring me to God, being put to death in the flesh but made alive in the Spirit. 1 Peter 3:18a.

In Christ, my life is being cleansed and purified.

Every day, the Holy Spirit makes me more like Him.

I feel so confused … sometimes I even feel I have lost my mind.

 As it is written: “No eye has seen, no ear has heard, no mind has conceived what God has prepared for those who love him”—but God has revealed this to me by his Spirit. The Holy Spirit searches all things, even the deep things of God, and knows all my thoughts. Although no one knows the thoughts of God except the Spirit of God, I have not received the spirit of the world but the Spirit who is from God, that I may understand what God has freely given me. This is what is spoken, not in words taught by human wisdom but in words taught by the Spirit, expressing spiritual truths in spiritual words. Without the Holy Spirit, I could not accept the things that come from the Spirit of God, for they would be foolishness to me and I could not understand them because those things are spiritually discerned. But as a spiritual person, I can now make judgments about all things, free from the judgment of others. As the prophet Isaiah said, ‘Who has known the mind of the Lord or instructed him as his counselor?’  But I have the mind of Christ. 1 Corinthians 2:9-16.

 Praise the LORD, who counsels me; even at night his heart instructs me. I shall set the LORD always before me, because He is at my right hand and I will not be shaken. Psalm 16:7, 8.

 I have received the fruit of the Spirit, which is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law.  Galatians 5:22, 23.   

 I need not be anxious about anything, but in all things, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, I can present my requests to God. And the peace of God which transcends all understanding, will guard my heart and my mind in Christ Jesus. Whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—I will think about these things. Philippians 4:6, 7.

 God did not give me a spirit of timidity, but a spirit of power, of love and of self-discipline. 2 Timothy 1:7.

I have peace of mind and confidence that God will

teach me what is true and right and good.

 

I feel depressed and hopeless.

 In the Lord, my heart is glad and my tongue rejoices; my body will rest secure, because He will not abandon me to the grave, nor will He let me, whom He has made holy, see decay.  He has made known to me the path of life; He will fill me with joy in His presence, with eternal pleasures at His right hand. Psalm 16:9-11.  

 I will be strong and take heart, for my hope is in the LORD. Psalm 31:24.

 May the God of hope fill me with all joy and peace as I trust in Him, so that I may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit. Romans 15:13.

 As all the people of Christ throughout the world put their hope in the name of Jesus, so will I. Matthew 12:21.  

 Therefore, since I have been justified through faith, I have peace with God through my Lord Jesus Christ, through whom I have gained access by faith into this grace in which I now stand.  And I rejoice not only in the hope of the glory of God, but also rejoice in my sufferings, because I know that suffering produces perseverance; perseverance, character; and character, hope. And hope does not disappoint me, because God has poured out his love into my heart by the Holy Spirit, whom he has given me. Romans 5:1-5.

 May the God of hope fill me with all joy and peace as I trust in Him, so that I may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit. Romans 15:13.

 I pray that the eyes of my heart may be enlightened so that I may more fully know the hope to which Jesus has called me, the riches of his glorious inheritance in the saints. Ephesians 1:18.

 Now faith is being sure of what I hope for and certain of what I do not see.   Hebrews 11:1.

In Christ, I have hope eternal.

 

I feel like I am not good enough to have relationships with other people or with God.

 Jesus had said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore I may boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me. That is why, for Christ’s sake, I can delight in weaknesses, in insults, in hardships, in persecutions and in difficulties, for when I am weak, then I am strong.   2 Corinthians 12:9, 10.

 In Christ, all the fullness of the Deity lives in bodily form, and I have been given fullness in Christ, who is the head over every power and authority.   

In Him I was also circumcised, in the putting off of the sinful nature, not with a circumcision done by the hands of men but with the circumcision of the heart done by Christ, having been buried with Him in baptism and raised with him through my faith in the power of God, who raised Him from the dead.  When I was dead in my sins and in the uncircumcision of my sinful nature, God made me alive with Christ. He forgave me all my sins, having canceled the written code with its regulations that was against me and that stood opposed to me; He took all of that away, nailing it to the cross. Colossians 2:9-14.

 The Holy Spirit testifies to me: This is the covenant I will make with you. I will put my laws in your heart, and I will write them on your mind. Your sins and lawless acts I will remember no more.  And where these have been forgiven, there is no longer any sacrifice for sin. Therefore, beloved, you may confidently enter the Most Holy Place by the blood of Jesus, by a new and living way opened for you through the curtain, that is, His body. And since you now have a great priest over the house of God, draw near to God with a sincere heart in full assurance of faith, having your heart sprinkled to cleanse you from a guilty conscience and having your body washed with pure water.  Hold unswervingly to the hope you profess, for He who promised is faithful. And consider how you may spur others on toward love and good deeds. Do not give up meeting with others of the faith; encourage one another all the more as you see the Day of the Lord approaching.  Hebrews 10:15-25.

 

In Christ, I have been made worthy to come before the King of Kings, for he has cleansed me and purified me and made me whole.

 

I feel insignificant, like a shadow that doesn’t matter.

 When I think of who I was before I was called by the Lord, I was not wise by human standards; I was not influential; I was not of noble birth. But I now know that God chose those foolish things of the world to shame the wise; He chose the weak things of the world to shame the strong. God chose the lowly things of this world and the despised things—the things that are not—to nullify the things that are, so that no one may boast before Him.  It is because of Him that I am in Christ Jesus, who has become for me the wisdom from God—that is, my righteousness, holiness and redemption.  Therefore, as it is written: “Let the one who boasts, boast in the Lord.” 1 Corinthians 1:26-31.

 I know the wicked will not inherit the Kingdom of God. I am not deceived, for I know now that those who continue in their sinful behavior will not inherit the Kingdom of God. I was among them but I have been washed, sanctified, and justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and by the Spirit of your God.

1 Corinthians 6:9-11.

 Praise be to the God and Father of my Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed me in the heavenly realms with every spiritual blessing in Christ. For He chose me in Him before the creation of the world to be holy and blameless in his sight. In love He predestined me to be adopted as his child through Jesus Christ, in accordance with his pleasure and will—to the praise of his glorious grace, which He has freely given me in the one he loves.  Ephesians 1:3-6.

 

In Christ, I have been made holy and blameless in the sight of God.

 

 

 

I feel like if I had more of the things I want, I could feel better about myself.

 The LORD is my shepherd, I shall not be in want.  He makes me lie down in green pastures, He leads me beside quiet waters, he restores my soul. He guides me in paths of righteousness for His name’s sake.  Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me. You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies. You anoint my head with oil; my cup overflows. Surely goodness and love will follow me all the days of my life, and I will dwell in the house of the LORD forever. Psalm 23.

 I shall learn to be content whatever the circumstances. I can know what it is to be in need, and I can know what it is to have plenty. I shall learn the secret of being content in any and every situation, whether well fed or hungry, whether living in plenty or in want. I can do everything through Him who gives me strength.  And my God will meet all my needs according to His glorious riches in Christ Jesus. Philippians 4:11-13, 19.

 I will keep my life free from the love of money and be content with what I have, because God has said, “Never will I leave you; never will I forsake you.”

Hebrews 13:5.

 Because I belong to Christ Jesus, I have crucified my sinful nature with its passions and desires.  Because I live by the Spirit, I will keep in step with the Spirit. Galatians 5:24, 25.

 A good measure, pressed down, shaken together and running over, will be poured into my lap, for with the measure I use, it will be measured to me. As I give, it will be given to me. Luke 6:38.

 I will consider everything a loss compared to the surpassing greatness of knowing Christ Jesus, my Lord, for whose sake I have lost all things. I will consider them rubbish, that I may gain Christ  and be found in Him, not having a righteousness of my own that comes from the law and my need to be right, but that comes through faith in Christ—the righteousness  that comes from God and is by faith.  Philippians 3:8, 9.

In Christ, all my needs are met.

 

I feel anxious and fearful.

 LORD, you are my hiding place; you will protect me from trouble and surround me with songs of deliverance.  Psalm 32:7.

 I will seek the LORD and He will answer me; He will deliver me from all my fears. Psalm 34:4.

 I need not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present my requests to God. And the peace of God,  which transcends all understanding, will guard my heart and my mind in Christ Jesus. Whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—I will think about these things. Whatever I have learned or received or heard from God and his Word, I will put into practice and the God of peace will be with me. Philippians 4:6-8.

In Christ, I have the peace that comes from God, alone.

 

I feel like I am full of doubt and my faith in God is weak.

 I have the fruit of the Spirit, which is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control.  No law stands against such things. Galatians 5:22, 23.

 Righteousness from God comes through faith in Jesus Christ to all who believe. There is no difference, for everyone has sinned and falls short of the glory of God, but are justified freely by his grace through the redemption that came by Christ Jesus. Romans 3:22, 23.

 I will think of myself with sober judgment, in accordance with the measure of faith God has given me. Romans 12:3.

 For it is by grace I have been saved, through faith—and this not from myself, it is the gift of God—not by works, so that I cannot boast.  For I am God’s workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for me to do. Ephesians 2:8-10.

My faith is a gift from Christ himself, who strengthens me.

 

I feel weak and defeated.

 Praise be to the Lord, for He has heard my cry for mercy.  The Lord is

my strength and my shield; my heart trusts in Him, and I am helped. My heart leaps for joy and I will give thanks to Him in song.  The Lord is the strength of His people, a fortress of salvation for his anointed one.  Psalm 28:6-8.

 God is my refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble. Therefore I will not fear, though the earth give way and the mountains fall into the heart of the sea, though its waters roar and foam and the mountains quake with their surging. There is a river whose streams make glad the city of God, the holy place where the Most High dwells.  God is within her, she will not fall; God will help her at break of day. Nations are in uproar, kingdoms fall; He lifts his voice and the earth melts.  The Lord Almighty is with me; the God of Jacob is my fortress. 

Psalm 46:1-6.

 In my anguish I cried to the Lord, and he answered by setting me free.

The Lord is with me; I will not be afraid. What can man do to me?  The Lord is my strength and my song; He has become my salvation. Psalm 118:5, 6, 14.

 The Lord holds victory in store for the upright, He is a shield to those

whose walk is blameless, for He guards the course of the just and protects the way of his faithful ones. Proverbs 2:7, 8.  

 Everyone who believes that Jesus is the Christ is born of God. Everyone who loves the Father loves his Child as well. I know that by loving God and carrying out his commands, I know how to love the children of God.  And God’s commands are not burdensome, for because I have been born of God, I have overcome the world because I believe that Jesus is the Son of God.  It is the Holy Spirit who testifies to this truth, because the Holy Spirit is the truth.  1 John 5:1-8.

 Who shall separate me from the love of Christ? Shall trouble or hardship or persecution or famine or nakedness or danger or sword?  In all these things I am more than a conqueror through Him who loves me, for neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate me from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus my Lord. Romans 8:35-39.

In Christ, I am strong even when I am weak.

 

I feel like I’m not smart enough to cope with life.

 For the LORD gives wisdom, and from his mouth come knowledge and understanding.  Proverbs 2:6.

 The fear of the Lord, that is wisdom; to shun evil, that is understanding.

Job 28:28.

 I have not received the spirit of the world, but the Spirit who is from God, that I may understand what God has freely given me. This is what is spoken, not in words taught by human wisdom but in words taught by the Spirit, expressing spiritual truths in spiritual words. Those without the Spirit do not accept the things that come from the Spirit of God, for they are foolishness to them, and they cannot understand them because they are spiritually discerned. The spiritual person makes judgments about all things, but is not subject to any person’s judgment: “For who has known the mind of the Lord that he may instruct him?” But I have the mind of Christ, for God has chosen the foolish things of the world to shame the wise; God chose the weak things of the world to shame the strong. He chose the lowly things of this world and the despised things—and the things that are not—to nullify the things that are, so that no one may boast before him. It is because of Him that I am in Christ Jesus, who has become for me wisdom from God—that is, my righteousness, holiness and redemption. 1 Corinthians 2:12-16; 1:27-30.

In Christ, I have been given the wisdom and the mind of the Lord.

 

I feel like I am in bondage and cannot escape.

 The Lord is  my hiding place; He will protect me from trouble and surround me with songs of deliverance.  He will instruct me and teach me in the way I should go; He will counsel me and watch over me. Many are the woes of the wicked, but the LORD’s unfailing love surrounds me, for I trust in Him. I will rejoice in the LORD and be glad, for He has made me a righteous one; I will sing, for I am upright in heart!  Psalm 32:7, 8, 10,11.

 Jesus said, “If you hold to my teaching, you are really my disciple. Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.”  John 8:31, 32.                                                                                              

 Now the Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom.  2 Corinthians 3:17.

 If the Son sets me free, I will be free indeed.  John 8:36.

In Christ, I am free from the bondage of the world,

of sin, and of the enemy.

 

Because I feel unloved, I feel unlovable.

 Because of His great love for me, God, who is rich in mercy, made me alive with Christ even when I was were dead in my own transgressions—it is by grace I have been saved.  Ephesians 2:4, 5.

 Jesus said, “As the Father has loved me, so have I loved you. Now remain in my love. If you obey my commands, you will remain in my love, just as I have obeyed my Father’s commands and remain in his love.”  John 15:9, 10.

 I pray that out of his glorious riches He may strengthen me with power  through his Spirit in my inner being, so that Christ may dwell in my heart   through faith. And I pray that I, being rooted and established in love, may have power, together with all the saints, to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ, and to know this love that surpasses knowledge —that I may be filled to the measure of all the fullness of God. Ephesians 3:16-19.

 I am called to be kind and compassionate to others, forgiving them, just as in Christ, God forgave me. I will be an imitator of God, therefore, as a dearly loved child and live a life of love, just as Christ loved me and gave himself up for me as a fragrant offering and sacrifice to God.   Ephesians 4:32-5:2.

I am loved by Christ; He has made me worthy to be loved.

 

I feel like I don’t belong anywhere or to anyone.

 For God chose me in Him before the creation of the world to be holy and blameless in his sight. In love He predestined me to be adopted as His child through Jesus Christ, in accordance with His pleasure and will—to the praise of His glorious grace, which He has freely given to me in the one He loves.  In Him I have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins, in accordance with the riches of God’s grace that he lavished on me with all wisdom and under-standing. And he made known to me the mystery of His will according to His good pleasure, which He purposed in Christ to be put into effect when the times will have reached their fulfillment—to bring all things in heaven and on earth together under one head, even Christ. In Him I was also chosen, having been predestined according to the plan of Him who works out everything in conformity with the purpose of His will, in order that I, who hope in Christ, might be for the praise of His glory.  And I also was included in Christ when heard the word of truth, the gospel of my salvation. Having believed, I was marked in Him with a seal, the promised Holy Spirit, who is a deposit guaranteeing my inheritance until the redemption of all those who are God’s possession—to the praise of His glory.   Ephesians 1:4-14.

 The Spirit himself testifies with my spirit that I am God’s child.  Now if I am His child, then I am an heir—an heir of God and co-heir with Christ. I share in His sufferings so that I may also share in His glory.  Romans 8:16, 17.

 Because I am His child, God sent the Spirit of his Son into my heart, the Spirit who calls out, “Abba, Father.”  So I am no longer a slave, but a child; and since I am a child, God has also made me an heir.   Galatians 4:6, 7.

 Now I am a child of God, and what I will become has not yet been made known. But I know that when He appears, I shall be like Him, and I shall see Him as He is. 1 John 3:2.

  When the Son of Man comes in his glory, and all the angels with Him, He will sit on His throne in heavenly glory. All the nations will be gathered before Him, and He will separate the people one from another as a shepherd separates the sheep from the goats. He will put the sheep on his right and the goats on his left. Then the King will say to those on his right, ‘Come, you who are blessed by my Father; take your inheritance, the Kingdom prepared for you since the creation of the world.’  Matthew 25:31-34.

 I will not let my heart be troubled. I will trust in God; I will trust also in Jesus.  In His Father’s house are many rooms; He has gone there to prepare a place for me and he will come back and take me to be with Him that I also may be where He is. John 14:1-3.

 I, as His little lamb, will not be afraid, for my Father has been pleased to give me the Kingdom. I will sell my possessions and give to the poor. I will provide a purse for myself that will not wear out, a treasure in Heaven  that will not be exhausted, where no thief comes near and no moth destroys.  For where my treasure is, there my heart will be also.  Luke 12:32-34.

My Father in Heaven loves me,

for I am his creation and his child.

 

My burden of guilt and shame feel like they are unbearable.

 Praise the LORD,O my soul;all my inmost being, praise His holy name.

Praise the LORD, O my soul, and forget not all His benefits—who forgives all

my sins and heals all my diseases, who redeems my life from the pit and

crowns me with love and compassion, who satisfies  my desires with good things

so that my youth is renewed like the eagle’s. For as high as the heavens are above

the earth, so great is His love for me who fear Him; as far as the east is from the

west, so far has He removed my transgressions from me. Psalm 103:1-5, 12.

 Blessed am I whose transgressions are forgiven, whose sins are covered. Blessed am I whose sin the Lord will never count against me. Romans 4:7, 8.

 In Christ, I have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins, in accordance with the riches of God’s grace that he lavished on me with all wisdom and understanding. Ephesians 1:7, 8.

 But now a righteousness from God, apart from law, has been made known to me, to which the Law and the Prophets testify.  This righteousness from God comes through faith in Jesus Christ to all who believe.  There is no difference,

for all of humankind have sinned and fall short of the glory of God and are justified freely by his grace through the redemption that came by Christ Jesus. 

Romans 3:21-24.

 For a the Scripture says, ‘If I believe in Him, I will never be put to shame.”

Romans 10:1.

 If I am sick, the prayer offered in faith will make me well; the Lord will raise me up. If I have sinned, I will be forgiven. Therefore I will confess my sins to others and pray for others so that I may be healed. I know the prayer of a righteous person is powerful and effective.  James 5:15, 16.

 My sins have been forgiven on account of Jesus’ name.  1 John 2:12.

In Christ,

I have been freed from my guilt and my sins are forgiven.

 

I feel overwhelmed by temptation.

 I will watch and pray so that I will not fall into temptation. My spirit is willing, but flesh is weak. Matthew 26:41.

 This is how I should pray: My Father in heaven, hallowed be your name. Your Kingdom come, your will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give me today my daily bread.  Forgive me my debts, as I also have forgiven my debtors.  And lead me not into temptation, but deliver me from the evil one. For if I forgive men when they sin against me, my heavenly Father will also forgive me, but if I do not forgive others their sins, my Father will not forgive my sins. Matthew 6:9-15.

 No temptation has seized me except what is common to all people. And God is faithful; He will not let me be tempted beyond what I can bear. But when I am tempted, He will also provide a way out so that I can stand up under it.

1 Corinthians 10:13.

In Christ, I can withstand all temptation; he has freed me from sin.

 

I feel like God is so far away from me that I can never reach him.

 What other nation is so great as to have their gods near them the way the Lord your God is near me whenever I pray to him? Deuteronomy 4:7.

 If, in my righteousness, I cry out, the Lord hears me; He delivers me from all my troubles. If I am brokenhearted, the Lord is close to me and saves me when I am crushed in spirit. Psalm 34:17, 18.

 The Lord is near when I call on Him, when I call on Him in truth. He fulfills my desires because I fear Him; He hears my cry and saves me. The Lord watches over me because I love him.  My mouth will speak in praise of the Lord. Let all creatures praise his holy name for ever and ever. Psalm 145:18-21.

 God raised me up with Christ and seated me with Him in the heavenly realms in Christ Jesus, in order that in the coming ages He might show the incomparable riches of his grace, expressed in his kindness to me in Christ Jesus. Ephesians 2:6, 7.

 As I come near to God, He will come near to me. I will wash my sinful hands and purify my heart, for I know I am double-minded. I will  grieve, mourn and wail. With His help, I will change my laughter to mourning and my joy to gloom.  I will humble myself before the Lord, and He will lift me up.  James 4:8-10.

In Christ, I have ready access to God, who is near.

 

I feel upset and confused and want to pray, but I can’t.

 Who is the one who condemns?  Christ Jesus, who died—more than that, who was raised to life—is at the right hand of God and is also interceding for me.   

Romans 8:34.

 The Apostle, John, writes to me so that I will not sin: My dear child, if you do sin, know that you have one who speaks to the Father in your defense—Jesus Christ, the Righteous One. 1 John 2:1.

 Jesus Christ is able to save me completely because I come to God through Him, because He always lives to intercede for me.  Hebrews 7:25.

 The Spirit helps me in my weakness.  When I do not know what I ought to pray for, the Holy Spirit himself intercedes for me with groans that words cannot express. And He who searches my heart knows the mind of the Holy Spirit, because the Spirit intercedes for me in accordance with God’s will.

Romans 8:26, 27.

 I will pray with my spirit, but I will also pray with my mind; I will sing with my spirit, but I will also sing with my mind. 1 Corinthians 14;14, 15.

When I feel that I cannot pray, I know that Jesus himself

and the Holy Spirit will pray on my behalf.

 

I feel lost, and have no direction or purpose.

 The Lord will fulfill his purpose for me. Your love, O Lord, endures forever; do not abandon the works of your hands. Psalm 138:8.

 For I am God’s workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good works,  which God prepared in advance for me to do. Ephesians 2:10.

 In all things, God works for my good because I love him and have been called according to his purpose.  For God foreknew me and  he also pre-destined me to be conformed to the likeness of his Son, that I might be the firstborn among many brothers and sisters. And because he predestined me, he also called me; and because he called me, he also justified me; and because he justified me, he also glorified me. What, then, shall I say in response to this? If God is for me, who can be against me? Romans 8:28-31.

In Christ, I have purpose for my life.

 

I feel hopeless, like I am trapped and nothing will ever change.

 Because I am in Christ, I am a new creation; the old has gone, the new has come!   All this is from God, who reconciled me to himself through Christ  and gave me the ministry of reconciliation: that God was reconciling the world to himself in Christ, not counting humankind’s sins against them.  And He has committed the message of reconciliation to me.  2 Corinthians 5:17-19.

 In him I was chosen, having been predestined according to the plan of Him who works out everything in conformity with the purpose of his will, 

in order that I, who placed my hope in Christ, might be for the praise of His glory.   And I was also included in Christ when I heard the word of truth, the gospel of my salvation. Having believed, I was marked in Him with a seal, the promised Holy Spirit, who is a deposit guaranteeing my inheritance until the redemption of all those who are God’s possession—to the praise of his glory.    

Ephesians 1:11-14.

In Christ, I have been cleansed and purified, restored and made new.

 

I feel inadequate to be of service to others or to God.

 I am full with the fruit of the Spirit, which is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control.  Against such things there is no law. Galatians 5:22, 23.

 There are different kinds of gifts, but the same Spirit.  There are different kinds of service, but the same Lord.  There are different kinds of working, but the same God works all of them in all persons. Now to each one the manifestation of the Spirit is given for the common good.  To one there is given through the Spirit the message of wisdom, to another the message of knowledge by means of the same Spirit, to another faith by the same Spirit, to another gifts of healing by that one Spirit, to another miraculous powers, to another prophecy, to another distinguishing between spirits, to another speaking in different kinds of tongues, and to still another the interpretation of tongues.   All these are the work of one and the same Spirit, and he gives them to each one, including me, just as he determines. 1 Corinthians 12:4-11.

 Just as my body has many members and these members do not all have the same function, so in Christ, I, along with many others, form one body, and each member belongs to all the others. My gifts are different than the others, according to the grace given me. If my gift is prophesying, I will use it in proportion to my faith. If it is serving, I will serve; if it is teaching, I will teach;  if it is encouraging, I will encourage; if it is contributing to the needs of others, I will give generously; if it is leadership, I will govern diligently; if it is showing mercy, I will do it cheerfully.  Romans 12:4-8.

 It was the Lord who gave some to be apostles, some to be prophets, some to be evangelists, and some to be pastors and teachers, to prepare God’s people for works of service, so that the body of Christ may be built up until we all reach unity   in the faith and in the knowledge of the Son of God and become mature,   attaining to the whole measure of the fullness of Christ.  Ephesians 4:11-13.    

 God’s gifts and his call are irrevocable.  Romans 11:29.

In Christ, I have been equipped with everything I need

to serve others  in the Kingdom of God.

 

I feel afraid of what the enemy might do to me.

 For God has rescued me from the dominion of darkness and brought me into the Kingdom of the Son he loves, in whom I have redemption and the forgiveness of sins. Colossians 1:13, 14.

 When I submit myself to God, I can resist the devil and he will flee from me. 

When I come near to God, he will come near to me.   James 4:7, 8.

 I can be strong in the Lord, in His mighty power. I can put on the full armor of God  so that I can take my stand against the devil’s schemes, for I know my struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. I will put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, God will make me able to stand my ground. I will stand firm with the belt of truth buckled around my waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place, and with my feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace.  I will take up the shield of faith, with which I can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. I will take up the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.

Ephesians 6:10-17.

 As God’s child, He will not let anyone lead me astray. Because He is righteous, he has made me righteous; I will do what is right. I know those who do what is sinful are of the devil, because the devil has been sinning from the beginning; but the reason the Son of God appeared was to destroy the devil’s work. Because I am born of God, I will not continue to sin because God’s seed remains in me; I can no longer continue to sin because I have been born of God.  John 3:7, 8.

 Because I am of God, I have overcome the influence of all who do not believe, because the One who is in me  is greater than the one who is in the world.

John 4:4.

In Christ’s protection, the enemy has no power over me.

 

I feel afraid of death.

 Because of his great love for me, God, who is rich in mercy, made me alive with Christ even when I was dead in transgressions—it is by grace I have been saved.   And God raised me up with Christ and seated me with him in the heavenly realms in Christ Jesus, in order that in the coming ages he might show me the incomparable riches of his grace, expressed in his kindness to me in Christ Jesus. For it is by grace I have been saved, through faith. This I have not done myself, for it is the gift of God; this I have not done by works, so I cannot boast, for I am God’s workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good works which God prepared in advance for me to do.  Ephesians 2:4-10.

 When the kindness and love of God, my Savior, appeared, He saved me,  not because of righteous things I have done, but because of his mercy. He saved me through the washing of rebirth and renewal by the Holy Spirit, whom He generously poured out on me, through Jesus Christ, my Savior, so that, having been justified by His grace, I have become an heir having the hope  of eternal life.

Titus 3:5-7.

 I know that I live in Him and He in me, because He has given me of His Spirit.  And I have seen and testify that the Father has sent His Son to be the Savior of the world. If I acknowledge that Jesus is the Son of God,  God lives in me and I in God.  And so I know and rely on the love God has for me, for God is love.  If I live in love, I also live in God, and God in me. In this way, love is made complete in me so that I will have confidence  on the day of judgment, because in this world, I am like Him. There is no fear in love, for perfect love drives out fear, because fear has to do with punishment. I love, because He first loved me.

1 John 4:13-15.

 And this is the testimony: God has given me eternal life, and this life is in His Son. Because I have the Son, and I have life.   1 John 5:10-15.

I have been given life eternal, that I may live forever,

a companion and disciple of Jesus.
